About Us
Daryel was incorporated into a 501c3 non-profit in 2018. Daryel is a nationally recognized, Somali nonprofit organization tailored towards enriching the lives of Somali American youth by utilizing the positive elements of education, mentoring, employment, and the arts. Daryel’s mission is to motivate youth to pursue higher education, while promoting and building community ties at events throughout Minnesota.
Daryel directs youth towards higher education, civic involvement, and a volunteer commitment to the community. Daryel helps Somali youth understand their options and make the right choices, through programs offering mentoring, tutoring, and job readiness training. Daryel also provides positive outlets through the arts, and encourages youth to share their talents with others.

Youth Employment
DARYEL provides job readiness and job placement services to East African youth. This includes connecting youth to training and leadership opportunities, as well as providing on-the-job support.

Social Services
East African refugees arrive in Minnesota needing emergency housing, assistance in filing for public benefits and finding permanent housing, enrolling their children in school, finding employment, and more.
Career Development
DARYEL is partnering with the City of Minneapolis, the MN Trucking Association and area trucking employers to assist East African refugees in obtaining a commercial trucking license and job placement.

Our Purpose is to create a safe environment for our youth in our society. We want to motivate our youth to take part in the civil aspects in our community and to pursue a higher education. Furthermore, as we meet new emerging needs in our community, we plan to serve our increasingly diverse public with a dedicated diverse leadership team.
